0 Comments November 15, 2019 Almost all of the important technology expos are over and everyone is back to their offices to get ready for the future. A more democratized, people-centric future that is already happening. This shift in perception is obvious in the trend classification presented by Gartner Unlike last year’s trends, this year does not fall into the cold categories of intelligent, digital and mesh, but are instead structured around “people-centric smart spaces” - technologies that will affect people and places they live. Robots won’t replace humans just yet, but can definitely make a lot of jobs less dangerous and cost-effective. In this two-part article, we will analyze the top 10 trends, how they apply to your business, and what Tentacle can do about it. We’ll go about them in two parts smart space technology and people-centric trends. Here are the smart-space trends: 1. Distributed Cloud A distributed cloud is the distribution of public cloud services to different locations while the originating public cloud provider assumes responsibility for the operation, governance, updates to and evolution of the services. This allows data centres to be located anywhere, while being easily managed, secured, and controlled. Tentacle already works this way and has addressed the basics in here. 2. Empowered Edge Empowered edge grows naturally from the previous trend and adds the practical aspect to it. It is a topology that allows the computation and collection of data be as close to the source of service as possible – which is vital for the Internet of Things where latency is a make it or break it criteria. It has been the trend of 2019 and will continue to be important in 2020. 3. Autonomous everything It includes drones, robots, automated cars and ships and everything else straight from an 80s dystopian sci-fi that has come to “take our jobs”. While working in isolation today – semiautonomous shipping and mining, in particular, autonomous things are bound to become more and more involved in the public affairs – just remember that swarm of drones from the 2018 Winter Olympics. Robots won’t replace humans just yet, but can definitely make a lot of jobs less dangerous and cost-effective. 4. Practical Blockchain Who hasn’t heard about blockchain in the last couple of years? Some even bothered to google it. Others bothered to turn a trendy technology into a shipping manifest managing system that is secure, distributed and allows for quick access and analytics of vast amounts of data. Big Data, its security and analysis are what Tentacle is all about. 5. AI Security Fight fire with fire, the saying goes and it perfectly describes the trends in AI security for the next year. While all the above technologies are great, they all become a vulnerability when hackers, armed with trained AIs and machine learning want to penetrate your security and steal your clients’ data. Solution – create and train an AI for protection. Read up on how Tentacle’s testers work in this direction here. Considering everything said above, it is easy to come to the conclusion that chasing after trends is hard and requires lots of time and training. That’s why it is better to reach out to development houses like Tentacle Solutions who are setting those trends and helping others implement them. In part two we will address less tangible trends like democratization and transparency and see how it changes the way we all do business. 0 Replies to "TOP 10 TECHNOLOGY TRENDS FOR 2020 (AND HOW THEY APPLY TO YOUR BUSINESS) PART 1" Got something to say?
